LOS ANGELES – When the mega-hit Frozen shattered box-office records in 2013 and took home Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Original Song (Let It Go) the following year, it shook up Hollywood's ideas about the viability of musicals and female-centric stories in animation.

It also helped catapult co-director Jennifer Lee – who became the first woman to helm a billion-dollar movie – to the top of Disney's animation studio.
