Fortnite Winter Royale COUNTDOWN: Epic Games $1 Million Battle Royale Event starts TODAY (Pic: EPIC GAMES)

Fortnite's Winter Royale series gets started this morning and there's a massive $1 million up for grabs.

But the best news? This is the FIRST Fortnite event open to ALL players. That means you, me and everyone in between.

Unlike being set in a venue half way across the world the Winter Royale event will be all done, in-game.

It's open to all players from Europe and North America with the top 200 eligible players from each region advancing to Finals which take place next week.

Winter Royale Scoring

There will be three qualifying sessions per region, per day during the Winter Royale Qualifier period. The highest score achieved during a single session will be counted and the top performers will be listed on the top scores leaderboard. The top 200 ranked participants for each region will be sent an eligibility survey to determine qualification into the Winter Royale Finals.

As part of our ongoing competitive tests to prepare for the Fortnite World Cup, Winter Royale will use the same game settings as the available Pop-Up Cup.

Players will be scored on the following scoring system:

  • Victory Royale: +3 Points
  • Top 3: +1 Point
  • Top 10: +1 Point
  • 7 Eliminations: +1 Point
  • 5 Eliminations: +1 Point
  • 3 Eliminations: +1 Point

A total of 5 points per game can be earned by placement.
A total of 3 points per game can be earned by eliminations.

Winter Royale Schedule

Europe:

  • Stage One: The Winter Royale Qualifier is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM GMT and conclude approximately at 9:00 PM GMT on November 24 and 25, 2018 (the “Europe Qualifier Period”).
  • Stage Two: The Winter Royale Finals: Day 1 is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM GMT on November 30, 2018 and conclude approximately at 11:00 PM GMT.
  • Stage Three: The Winter Royale Finals: Day 2 is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM GMT on December 1, 2018 and conclude approximately at 9:00 PM GMT.

North America:

  • Stage One: The Winter Royale Qualifier is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM EST and conclude approximately at 12:00 AM EST on November 24 and 25, 2018 (the “NA Qualifier Period”).
  • Stage Two: The Winter Royale Finals: Day 1 is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM EST on December 11, 2018 and conclude approximately at 10:00 PM EST.
  • Stage Three: The Winter Royale Finals: Day 2 is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM EST on December 12, 2018 and conclude approximately at 9:00 PM EST.

Winter Royale Prize Breakdown

Epic Games announced that the Winter Royale will give away a massive $1000000 million in total.

This will first be split with $500K going to winners in Europe and another $500K for those in America.

However, for the time being, Epic has not stated how they intend to split the $500K for each region. Although we imagine this will be announced on the day of the tournament.

Winter Royale Rules

As with any Fortnite esports event, there are guidelines and rules set out by Epic Games to manage the tournament. Here is a quick look at the rules, as provided by Epic Games –

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the Winter Royale Finals Event, you (“Participant”) must:

  • Be 16 or older;
  • Be a valid Fortnite licensee under the Fortnite End User License Agreement (“EULA”) (https://www.epicgames.com/fort… an eligibility survey and be invited by Epic (or an invitee of Epic) to participate in the Event;
  • Agree to be bound by, and comply with, the Fortnite Code of Conduct (as updated, revised, changed, or modified from time to time by Epic, the “Code”).

The Event is open to invited Participants worldwide, but is void wherever restricted or prohibited by law.

Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives of Epic (including the legal, promotion, and advertising agencies of Epic) and their immediate family members (defined as spouse, mother, father, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, grandparents and in-laws, regardless of where they live) and those living in their household (whether or not related), and each person or entity connected with the production or administration of the Event, and each parent company, affiliate, subsidiary, agent and representative of Epic are not eligible.

Epic reserves the right to disqualify any Participant in its sole discretion for any reason, including without limitation if Epic determines Participant is cheating, hacking, harassing, using abusive or offensive language, colluding, account sharing, teaming, sabotaging, spamming, engaging in social engineering, scamming, or otherwise violating the Fortnite EULA or the Code.
