Fortnite Update 6.22 EARLY Patch Notes: Heavy Assault Rifle, Gifting, server downtime (Pic: EPIC GAMES)

Fortnite Battle Royale and Save the World players should be all set to receive a BRAND NEW update today as Epic Games looks set to roll out a new v6.22 Update.

After a number of weeks which have seen the weekly update rolled out on Wednesday's, Thursdays and pretty much every day except for Tuesday, fans will be glad to see Epic returning to their usual schedule.

But what you can count on is that today's downtime will come at the same time this week and under the same conditions.

Namely, the update will launch at 8am GMT and be followed by server downtime as Epic sets to work releasing the latest patch.

Although we can't say for certain, we already have a pretty solid idea what the new patch note could look like, thanks to some early indicators.

For now, keep reading for a rundown for some of the main features expected to drop with the next big Fortnite update.

Heavy AR Weapon

Over the weekend the in-game message of the day gave a tease for a new weapon coming to the game soon; the Heavy Assault Rifle.

The AR Weapon will be the first new weapon to be added to the game since Epic added the Quad Launcher.

And according to Fortnite Intel, it's possible that the AR could be a Legendary weapon "Judging from the colour of the background".

The Fortnite know-it-alls have also speculated that the weapon could have "a high spread and recoil" given that the description describes the weapon as "most useful when fired in short bursts".

AWOL Features

The below-mentioned features have been banded about and rumoured for some weeks. Could they arrive with the new update? Anything is possible. But in the event you missed the news before, here's a quick recap

New Vehicle?

We realise the game only recently added the Quadcrasher Vehicle, but it looks like the game already has another vehicle lined up.

In fact, this one seems to be animal themed. It's called the 'Antelope'.

Files relating to this new vehicle was discovered in a recent update a few weeks back, but as Fortnite Intel reports, the assets are incomplete. So whether this is for something far off, or something they plan to release shortly, isn't clear.

Still, a rideable creature for a silly Halloween event would be kinda cool!

Gifting

A new video released last week showed that the games long-awaited gifting feature had undergone further tweaks.

The video released by YouTuber, Alpha, shows that the in-game gifting system now allows you to select a colour for your gift-wrapped present to your friends.

It seems as though the feature is still undergoing some changes by the devs and it's not clear, for the time being anyway, exactly when the feature could be released.

After all, files relating to the new gifting feature have been present since the 4.5 updates released some months back on 27th June 2018.

Although, you'd have to say that an increase in changes an overall visibility of the feature would suggest that the Gifting feature is surely nearing completion and an official release from the game.

Fingers crossed its part of the upcoming 6.22 update arriving Thursday.

Fortnite 6.22 Update – Anything Else?

On top of everything mentioned previously, we should see the usual array of bug fixes for both Fortnite Battle Royale, Fortnite Save the World and mobile.

Below you can take a look at some of the main bugs which the Trello board has marked as 'fixed in the next release'.

This isn't to say they'll definitely be included in the next patch. But there's a pretty decent chance.

Battle Royale 'fixed' Issues:

  • Nothing to Report

Save the World 'fixed' Issues:

  • Team members do not properly appear in the lobby. This may cause false power level restrictions.
  • Defenders do not function correctly after being revived

Mobile 'fixed' Issues:

  • Jerky Camera turning on Mobile
  • Balloons Crooked on Mobile
  • Storm visual effects persist after leaving the storm
  • Login issue on iOS
