Fortnite Season 7 DOWNTIME: Server status news for Epic Games update 7.0 release time (Pic: EPIC GAMES)

Fortnite Season 7 is less than 12 hours away having been confirmed earlier this week that the game would release Fortnite Season 7 on Thursday, December 6th.

However, Epic Games has now confirmed details of when we can expect the game servers to go offline.

We would imagine that most fans of the game will realise this already, but the server downtime will enable Epic Games to update the game to it's latest version, which in this case would be Fortnite 7.0.

Equally, whilst this server downtime is taking place the game will be out of action for both Battle Royale and Save the World players.

This period of scheduled maintenance is due to begin tomorrow morning at around 9am in the UK, as confirmed by a tweet on the official Fortnite Twitter account which read:

"Stay frosty! Downtime for Season 7 begins December 6 at 4 AM ET (0900 UTC)"

Usually, with the case of any normal Fortnite update we see patch notes become available around 20 minutes before the game actually goes offline.

Which would suggest that we may see the official patch notes for Fortnite Season 7 released at around 8.30-40am GMT on Thursday morning.

However, with this update being the launch of a new season it doesn't necessarily mean that Epic Games will follow the same pattern.

In fact, it's possible that the patch notes and details surrounding the new battle pass could be preceded by a brand new launch trailer for the game.

This will not only give players a first look at some excellent new Epic Games cinematics, but potentially a look at some new features, map changes, skins and perhaps some returning favourite skins too.

How long will Fortnite Season 7 downtime last?

Judging from previous seasons downtime for brand new updates such as this can take more than the usual two hour downtime period we see with the more run of the mill Fortnite updates.

There's more to change, more features to implement, battle passes to change. It's a big deal.

So normally we would suspect the update could take up to midday to be fully rolled out.

And as with all updates you never know if there will be further issues that could mean the server downtime taking slightly longer so Epic Games can work through these problems.

However, there's cause to believe that the new Season 7 update could take even longer and be even more problematic compared to past launches. And that's because Epic will no doubt be rolling out additional features to prepare for the launch of their latest Fortnite mode revealed earlier today; Fortnite Creative

Fortnite Creative Mode – Explained

The new mode seems to be a spiritual successor to the game's previous Playground mode: it gives players massive amounts of creative freedom and lets players create and battle with as much time as they need and few restrictions.

Those who buy the Fortnite season 7 Battle Pass will get to play Fortnite Creative on Thursday, December 6 – a week ahead of those that don't purchase the Battle Pass.

That means those that don't buy Season 7's Battle Pass will get access to the mode on Thursday, December 13.

In a blog announcing Fortnite Creative, Epic Games said: "Theres something new coming in Season 7… Fortnite Creative!

"Its a brand new way to experience the world of Fortnite, available on December 6.

"Design games, race around the island, battle your friends in new ways and build your dream Fortnite.

"Its all happening on your own private island where everything you make is saved.

"Battle Pass owners will have access to a private island for the first week of Season 7.

"During this early access week Battle Pass owners can invite their friends to play on their island. Starting December 13, all players will have access to a private island for free."
