Original Story – Fortnite Update 7.10 IS coming today after all and that means players will experience a short period of downtime later this morning whilst the new update is rolled out.

After a tremendous amount of flip-flopping on behalf of Epic Games, the official Fortnite Twitter account confirmed early this morning that they would be taking the game offline to release the latest update.

"Success! The v7.10 update is once again set to release today, December 18. Downtime will begin at 5 AM ET(1000 UTC)"

This follows several mixed messages last night as Epic first delayed the release of the new Driftboard vehicle, then cancelled the update altogether.

At the time the decision to delay the 7.10 update was because of the following reason:

"Due to last minute issues discovered within the build, weve had to delay the timing for the release of the v7.10 update."

But nevertheless, the update is now coming today as was originally planned with downtime set to begin at 10AM GMT for those in the UK.

As is the case with most updates, we should see the game start to go offline for some players up to twenty minutes before server downtime starts.

Likewise, when downtime does begin we should see the games official Fortnite update 7.10 patch notes released by Epic Games.

So although the game could be offline for a couple of hours players will at least have something to read through and analyse before the game once again comes back online.

It's not clear, however, if today's update will include the Driftboard or not. It seems unlikely, but the constant back and forth from Epic Games hasn't made it all that clear.

Still, we suspect the update will provide plenty of big changes ahead of next week's Christmas festivities. Especially if Epic would like to ensure they don't want to work on fixing the game over Christmas.

We might also see some significant changes to the games plane and the previously vaulted (but still seemingly appearing) Infinity Blade weapon. If you want more info, take a look at our Fortnite update 7.10 early patch notes story.

And keep reading and you can take a quick look at some of the main issues currently flagged as 'fixed for next release' on the games Trello Board.
