Fortnite DOWN: New Season 6 Update, 6.02 News and Server Status updates from Epic Games (Pic: EPIC GAMES)

Epic has confirmed that a new patch will be added to Fortnite today – October 10 – on all platforms.

Update 6.02 will go live once the servers are back online later today for all versions of the game.

As usual, Epic announced the news last night on their official Twitter channel, also confirming the times for when the game will go offline and details about the games next patch notes for Battle Royale and Save the World.

This patch is unlike other Fortnite patches as it has been delayed a little in coming, and is occurring on a Wednesday rather than the previous Tuesday slot it had been given.

Here's everything you need to know about the games latest update:

Fortnite Down – How long will it be offline?

Epic has announced that Fortnite will be down from 8am GMT. Here's what they've said on Twitter:

“Launch into patch v6.02 Wednesday, October 10! Patch Notes will be available when downtime begins at 4 AM ET (0800 GMT).” the message from Epic Games reads.

As a reminder, this means Fortnite will be down from 9am BST in the UK.

The UK is currently operating in BST, not GMT, in case you were wondering about the discrepancy between Epic's statement and our information.

There is no confirmation of how long the title will be down for, but we can expect it to be offline for a few hours if past updates are anything to go by.

And do be aware that Epic has been known to start booting players out of games and off the servers around 20 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Why the Downtime?

Epic will no doubt drop some new patch notes just before or during the downtime, and we'll bring those to you the second they're available.

For the time being we can assume that the downtime and new update is intended so Epic Games can release a whole load of new content for the game.

Especially when it comes to new skins for the game in the coming weeks on the games shop.

There's also likely to be a huge array of bug fixes for both Fortnite Battle Royale and Fortnite Save the World not to mention mobile fixes as well.

Although, outside of looking at the games trello board its impossible to say for sure what they'll fix.

Even then, sometimes issues marked as fixed for the games next release aren't even fixed in the next patch. So it's a bit of a lottery.
