Fortnite Cube and Season 6 NEWS: Epic Games New Battle Pass, Skins and release date info?

DS

Fortnite Season 6 is due to start soon – and ahead of the change from Season 5 to Season 6, we're expecting to see Epic tease the new content.

Where the Season 4/5 crossover saw a massive rift open in the sky, the 5/6 period has seen a massive mysterious cube enter the map and move around of its own accord.

Between this and some other rifts opening up here and there – damaging players with lightning bolts – it's safe to say we're well on the way to seeing more Season 6 changes occur in-game.

Below is our complete guide to all things Fortnite Season 6 – we'll update it as more information is revealed.

Fortnite Season 6 – When will it start?

Epic hasn't officially announced a start date for Season 6… yet.

However, it appears that thanks to the length of Seasons so far, we can expect Season 6 to begin on September 20. We can extrapolate that information based on what we know about the length of Seasons (Season 5 started on July 12, and they tend to last about two months)

Epic is usually a little bit flexible with the dates new Seasons start on though, thanks to the work that goes into the backend of the game when the changeovers occur.

So depending on the weight of the work the developers need to put in, we could be seeing more (or less!) of a wait time.

Fortnite Season 6 – What's with the Cube?

As of last week, a giant purple Cube entered Fortnite and has been rolling around the map, confusing players as it goes. The bizarre item surely holds the clues to what's coming next in the game…

To understand the Cube, you need to understand Fortnite 'lore' so far. It began when a missile launched and tore a rift open in the sky. Then, from the rifts, new areas came to the game and a giant temple celebrating a tomato-based God appeared, too. The Enforcer skin dropped, which hinted at putting a stop to these space/time shenanigans, and the rift began to close.

But as it closed, it summoned a sentient Cube. The Cube – which punishes those that shoot at it with deadly bolts of purple lightning – moves every two hours towards an undisclosed destination. Datamined information suggests the Cube is en route to Loot Lake, but as of right now, its motivations and destination remain a mystery.

Expect there to be something interesting in the middle of the Cube, that it will unveil as it reaches its destination.

Fortnite Season 6 – What is the theme?

We haven't been told what's going on with Season 6 just yet, but there are a few clues.

In a recent tease for the Capoeira emote, Epic seemed to let slip that a castle will be joining the game (you can just about see it in the background, very far away). This, paired with the 'Crazy Castle' spray introduced in the game as part of the Season 5 Battle Pass, suggests we may be getting a fantasy/Medieval theme.

That would continue the time-travel narrative Epic has introduced so far – maybe the Cube will zap the map back into the past?

Who knows at this point… Epic likes to tease and keep players on their toes, so we're excited to see what comes next.

Fortnite Season 6 – What Skins will be introduced?

Every new Season sees the introduction of new skins. At the time of writing, we've not had any leaks or datamines that reveal what sort of skins we'll be seeing as of the start of Season 6.

Maybe if we do go back in time, we can expect to see Medieval knights and dragon-themed skins. Maybe we can see mysterious Mayan or Aztec skins. Maybe Neanderthals. Who knows?

Perhaps the space/time Enforcer thing will be explored more, too – we'll update our gallery and include new information in this page as more infomation presents itself.

Fortnite Season 6 – Hats

Rumours abound that Fortnite will be getting hats soon, too. A set of leaks taken from datamined files of the newest build of the game suggests makeovers to older costumes could be coming to the game, supported by new custom headwear.

Data suggested that “favorite_hat,” “favorite_vehicledeco,” and “favorite_mapmarker” would be introduced to the game.

Coming off the back of the Tomato head that was introduced to the game recently, it would make sense to see more custom head items introduced – and for Epic it makes sense: more items to unlock means more rewards for players, and another revenue stream introduced to the game, too.

(Going to preface this with @StormLeaks posted this first) So, in your inventory data sent by the server it sets what your favorite items are (favorite being your selected item in your locker) and there are, there are new values named "favorite_hat" and "favorite_vehicleddeco) pic.twitter.com/FTcDOJEMg5
