Fisher-Price has recalled nearly five million sleepers after it was discovered that more than 30 babies have died in them over the past decade.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said that people who own a Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play sleeper should stop using it immediately and contact the company for a refund.

Although the exact cause of the deaths is not known, the baby toy and equipment manufacturer and the commission said that they had occurred when the babies in them rolled over to their stomachs whilst unrestrained.

It is widely recommended that babies sleep on their backs, with their feet at the bottom of cribs.
