Fallout 76 is steadily working on becoming the greatest comeback story of 2019, sort of. Thanks to the steady stream of fixes since the game's rather unsuccessful launch, the game has begun to win a few people back into its post-apocalyptic fold.

A large part of this is thanks to the free Battle Royale mode, Nuclear Winter, which pits teams of players against each other in a bid to, well, to not have a nuclear weapon land on them. It's a bit removed from the messages you find in the main series, but hey, video games or something.

Well, fans of the game will have to face their own real-life apocalypse today because the servers are undergoing maintenance on July 9th from 3pm BST.

There is no set amount of time nor end time mentioned in this post over on Bethesda, so there is no way of knowing just how long it's actually going to take. It could be 300 years, or it could just be an hour or so, nobody can say.

As the post states, this downtime has literally nothing to do with the upcoming Patch 11, in the words of the post:

"This update is to make some backend adjustments to the Atomic Shop and therefore will not include patch notes".

That means there are no exciting patch notes to read into, unfortunately.

If you need something to read during the downtime, you could always check out the post from Bethesda detailing what Patch 11 will be doing when it releases at some point in the coming weeks.

Originally planned for early July, the patch has taken a bump as "a few of the improvements were planning to implement need a little more time to brew". It's still coming, but maybe it'll actually work coming out of the gates.

The patch is designed to make things a little more forgiving on new players, as well as revamping some of the current systems for the pros too.
