Destiny 2 Invitation of the Nine Xur Quest Steps: How To Get and Complete Week 5 Quest (Pic: Bungie)
Destiny 2's revitalised player base has yet another reason to ask Where is Xur, the tentacle-faced Agent of the Nine that we've been doing business with since way back in the first game.
While he still offers his usual wares in the form of Exotic Weapons and Armour (which we've highlighted on the link above), he now offers an extra incentive for players to seek him out at the end of the week – a new bounty called the "Invitation of the Nine".
Last week Xur could be found on Titan, but even if you weren't able to find time to say hello to old squid face, don't worry, Bungie has confirmed that it doesn't matter if you didn't start your quests just yet:
If youre looking for lore, Invitations of the Nine started last Friday, and it continues for many weeks to come. Complete the first invitation to discover the backstory of the Drifter and his ties to the mysterious Nine. Everyone who accepted the first invitation last Friday will have a new experience this week. If you missed it last week, dont worry. You can pick it up this Friday. There wont be a cutscene every week, but that definitely wasnt the last one youll see.
After the Destiny 2 Daily Reset at 5 pm tonight, Xur will return and the fifth Invitation of the Nine bounty will be available for purchase.
While we don't know what the next list of objectives will be, nor where to find Xur, we'll update this piece when we have that information available at 5pm.

Invitation of the Nine: Step 1 – The World Quest
The first phase of the Invitation of the Nine quest is titled 'The World' and it'll take a fair chunk of time. Here's the rundown of things you need to do:
- Complete the Lake of Shadows Strike in the EDZ
- Collect Cabal Samples in the EDZ
- Collect Fallen Samples in the EDZ
- Collect Taken Samples in the EDZ
The first on the list is simple enough – complete the "Lake of Shadows" strike in the European Dead Zone, on Earth. Don't worry about hopping into the Vanguard Strikes Playlist though – you can simply select this strike from your Director menu.
Afterwards, head towards the Trostland, which is an ideal location for farming Fallen enemies, while Firebase Hades will provide plenty of Cabal fodder to collect enough samples.
Once you've ticked off all four of those objectives, a new option will open up in the Gambit section of the Director. Head there to chat to the mysterious Emissary of the Nine and earn your Powerful Rewards.

Invitation of the Nine: Step 2 – Justice
The second phase of the Invitation of the Nine quest is titled 'Justice' and unlike the first week, it's pretty simple.
Here's the rundown of things you need to do:
- Complete Savuthuns Song strike on Titan
- Collect samples from Fallen on Titan
- Collect samples from Hive on Titan
So yes, it's rather easy this week. And if you're still working on The Last Word weapon quest, you'll be hunting Hive on Titan for one step anyway. Don't forget samples don't drop from every kill – so it can take a little bit of trial and error.
Once you've ticked off all three of those objectives, a new option will open up in the Gambit section of the Director. Head there to chat to the mysterious Emissary of the Nine and earn a Powerful Reward.
Invitation of the Nine: Step 3 – The High Priestess
In keeping with the previous two quests he has issued, this week's is pretty straightforward.
- Complete the Inverted Spire Strike on Nessus
- Collect Cabal Samples on Nessus
- Collect Fallen Samples on Nessus
- Collect Vex Samples on Nessus
