Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has branded the potential romance between Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton a blessing.

The controversial character lifted the lid on his thoughts on the so-called Strictly curse after it was reported the winners of last years dancing competition had shacked up.

While neither Kevin nor Stacey have publicly confirmed nor denied the claims, the journalists ex, Sam Tucknott, recently spoke about how he allegedly found messages from the professional dancer on Staceys phone.

To Craig, though, he doesnt see romances that come from the show as a curse – indeed, hes pretty happy his dancers have found love through the BBC One programme.

I was surprised by that! Obviously they left it until later on. I hope they live happily ever after, he told TV Week in Australia when asked about Stacey and Kevin.

It will be another Strictly success story. I never call it the “Strictly curse”. I call if the Strictly blessing. People need to fall in love.

Never a truer word was spoken, right?

While couples have been slammed in the past and the Strictly curse blamed for the ending of many a long-term relationship or marriage, Craig finds it ridiculous the show is the only reason. To him, its a mere catalyst for something else.

Youre dancing up close and personal and spending all of your time with that one person, he said.

Of course people fall in love. But my point is, if your relationship in real life is suffering anyway, its going to happen anyway whether it happens on Strictly…or in real life.

He added: If you have a strong loving relationship in the first place, that stuff just doesnt happen.

It comes while pundits are wondering what the heck is going on with Stacey and Kev, after speculation continued to persist the two struck up a relationship following their Glitterball trophy win in December, and her split with partner Sam in March.

In an interview last week Sam recalled the moment he saw a text on Staceys phone from Kevin as they were preparing to move out of their flat.

He told The Sun: I was getting my stuff to leave. Stacey was in the loo. Her phone went and it was Kevin Clifton. I grabbed the phone and confronted her.

She said shed tell me everything I needed to know.

He went on to say that Stacey – who is currently working on a project in Mexico – told him she didnt start entertaining Kevin until they had split up.
