Actor Colin Firth’s wife Livia Giuggioli reportedly had a year-long relationship with Marco Brancaccia, who has been accused of stalking the star’s wife, while the couple were temporarily separated.

Colin and Livia have reported Brancaccia to police in Italy accusing journalist Marco of harassing her after producer Livia admitted to having a ‘brief’ relationship with Brancaccia.

A statement released on her behalf read: ‘A few years ago Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate. During that time Livia briefly became involved with former friend Mr Brancaccia. The Firths have since reunited.

‘Subsequently, Mr Brancaccia carried out a frightening campaign of harassment over several months, much of which is documented. For obvious reasons, the Firths have never had any desire to make this matter public.’

Marco claims he is not a stalker and that his affair with Firth’s wife lasted 12 months after they met at a party.

He told The Sun: ‘We met at a party at Colin and Livia’s house in Italy. I had known her for years and one thing led to another.

‘We started an affair that last just under a year.’

He added that he and Livia would meet ‘all over the world’ including London, where they attended a Pirelli Calender launch in 2016.’

‘Sometimes when we were together she would get a call from Colin,’ he went on. ‘I’m the one being called a stalker when I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong.’

Italy’s Carabinieri police spokesman said: ‘A complaint has been made by the couple to prosecutors and the police have been investigating.’

Marco has been accused of launching an eight-month stalking campaign targeting Livia, sending her constant emails and phone calls and threatening to write disparaging articles about her. He claims he sent two messages on WhatsApp and an email to Colin which he ‘regrets’.

Colin and Livia wed in 1997 and have two children.

The couple’s publicists have been contacted for comment.
