The Like A Virgin singer gave the evenings official speech to the music icon, but viewers accused the 60-year-old of making the whole thing about herself and her own experiences.

However, Franklins nephew Tim Franklin has now told TMZ that the family of the late singer werent upset by Madonnas speech.

He told TMZ the family believe Aretha herself would not have been upset, either.

Madonna later had her own say on the fall-out from her tribute, vowing she loves the singer.

I shared a part of my journey and thanked Aretha for inspiring me along the way, she wrote on Instagram. I did not intend to do a tribute to her!

Unfortunately most people have short attention spans, and are so quick to judge. I love Aretha! R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
