A solid but not exceptional 1 million viewers tuned in to watch Barnaby Joyce and his former staffer-cum-new partner Vikki Campion's cringeworthy Seven interview on their affair and the birth of their son, Sebastian, last Sunday night.

But his eldest daughter, Bridgette Joyce, 21, was not one of them.

Instead, she took to social media to show that she was letting her hair down with a friend over a glass of wine, joking how she wished it was the Queen's birthday so they could extend their weekend.

So Bridgette would have missed the moment her father's new partner and former media adviser apologised to her, her mother Natalie and her three sisters Julia, 20, Caroline, 17, and Odette, 15, in the $150,000 interview, which they have claimed would be put into a trust-fund for Sebastian's future.

Unlike the former deputy prime minister, the Joyce women have kept a dignified silence about his affair, despite umpteen media outlets trying to contact them for their side of events.

A huddle of media were also said to be gathered outside their home while the interview went out on the off-chance they felt like popping out to the front gate to let off some steam.

A local told Fairfax Media: "Natalie is holding up well. People are very sympathetic towards her and admire her for the way she is handling it … But the kids are suffering. You wouldn't blame them, every day there seems to be something new."

Bridgette Joyce did not respond to a request for comment.
