Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag - caught between generations

Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag – coming soon to Switch, probably

It looks like the Switch could be getting remasters of Assassins Creeds popular pirate adventure and its oft-forgotten spin-off.

Assassins Creed III was nobodys favourite entry in the series, but it managed to get a remaster earlier in the year and now it looks like its considerably more popular sequel is getting the same treatment on Switch.

The remaster turned up on a Greek retail site (it was still live up until a few moments before we posted this story) which couldve been dismissed except that games analyst and noted insider Daniel Ahmad commented on forum ResetEra that the news is real.

As it happens theres also a Nintendo Direct tomorrow, so it may be that the site just put the listing up a day early.

The Direct is due to focus on games that are being released this year only, so that means theres a good chance that Black Flag will be out before Christmas.

The listing was for Assassins Creed Rogue as well, implying that it will be included as part of a bundle – probably also including Black Flags story DLC Freedom Cry.

Rogue is an often-forgotten entry in the franchise that is set between Assassins Creed III and IV, where for once you got to play as a Templar.

It was released the same year as current gen game Assassins Creed Unity, but originally only for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Like Black Flag, it was later released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well, which is why this new release seems to be a Switch exclusive.
