Adele has paid tribute to the honesty of her best friend after she shared an intimate blog post detailing her experience of postpartum psychosis.
The singer shared a photo of herself and Laura Dockrill, praising her "intimate, witty, heartbreaking and articulate piece".
She also pleaded with new mums to take about their feelings, saying it could save lives.
Adele wrote: "This is my best friend. We have been friends for more of our lives than we haven't.
"She had my beautiful godson 6 months ago and it was the biggest challenge of her life in more ways than one.
"She has written the most intimate, witty, heartbreaking and articulate piece about her experience of becoming a new mum and being diagnosed with postpartum psychosis.
"Mamas talk about how you're feeling because in some cases it could save yours or someone else's life x."
The Hello singer, who is mother to son Angelo, five, is also godmother to Laura's six-month-old son.
In her post, Ms Dockrill introduces her real-life experience by saying: "Social media gives a very shiny exterior of life to be frank and it's not the full picture, so I wanted to unlock some doors and be honest – I've been somewhere I can't unsee and – in case there is anybody out there struggling – to open up a dialogue and say it's ok. You are not broken…"
She goes on to describe feeling "completely terrified, lost, confused and scared for myself and my son", explaining how she became a "zombie girlfriend eating apple crumble with a plastic spoon in a hospital cafeteria".
She says that now, after recovering from the illness, she wanted to share her experience of "the bits nobody talks about" to help others who may be feeling the same way.

The NHS webpage describes postpartum psychosis as "a serious mental illness that should be treated as a medical emergency".
Describing symptoms including hallucinations, delusions and feeling suspicious or fearful, it says the illness "should be treated immediately" and can take up to 12 months to fully recover from.
