Following an unprovoked attack while in a nightclub with his brother Curtis, Strictly Come Dancings AJ Pritchard, 24, has been forced to hire security, according to reports.
On a night out on 27 December the brothers were kicked and punched by a group of eight men, leaving Curtis, 23, needing surgery on his leg after he tore cartilage.
AJ received bruising to his face, arms, body and legs.
Now its been claimed the pro dancer has been left too traumatised by the event hes sought out staff to help him feel safe again, after it was alleged he was working with police to help identify their attackers.
AJ has hired a bodyguard to protect him over the coming weeks. He has been left traumatised by the assault, and while his confidence is growing he feels really nervous about the idea of going out in public, a source told The Sun.
Hes worried about a possible revenge attack and wanted to have someone with him for the next month or so to help make him feel safe again.
The pair are keen to make sure the perpetrators are brought to justice and are working with the police to try to identify their attackers on social media.
On Wednesday the brothers publicly opened up for the first time on the attack, as they both insisted they were minding their own business when they were set upon at Nakatcha in Nantwich, Cheshire.
We were minding our own business, having one of the best nights out ever, I just had a push to my right, Curtis said during an interview on This Morning.
AJ added: By the time he went to look who had pushed him he was punched, blindsided from the right.
Curtis went on: Im lucky AJ was there. If I was still stood where I was I would have been in a worse way.
He added AJ got him to safety, as he said: Once it all happened the first thing that I thought was were in trouble. AJ is in trouble we need to protect ourselves. We werent there to fight.
AJ continued: The adrenaline kicked in and you just protect each other as family and brothers. Seeing him getting kicked multiple times, I just wanted to get both of us out as soon as possible.
A police spokesperson said at the time of the attack: The four victims were taken to hospital for treatment. All have since been discharged. Officers arrested a 20-year-old man from Crewe on suspicion of assault. He has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
Curtis is best known for his role on Irish Dancing With The Stars, however his future on the next season is in jeopardy after the attack has rendered him unable to dance for four to five weeks.
He was cautious to label the attack targeted and a hit on his dancing future, though.
I would hate to say that [they were jealous] because its a horrible thought, to intentionally want to harm someone, he said. I dont know.
