It's been quite a few months since Sony PlayStation bosses confirmed that they were working on the next iteration of PlayStation console.
But in that time the majority of chatter has focussed on leaky patents and a whole lot of suggestions that they might look at out Nintendo Switch the Nintendo Switch.
But the biggest question currently is not only what this new console could look like, but more importantly, how it might look to improve upon the current market leading consoles such as the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
Obviously, one of the most vocal suggestions from fans has been focussed on making sure that PS5 Backwards compatibility is a day one feature of the console.
But graphical fidelity hasn't been something that's been talked about all too much. Although, sure, PlayStation fans might appreciate true 4K and not the checkerboard rendering of the PS4 Pro.
However, what if we told you it could be better? Thankfully, we might have just got our first glimpse at what this future could look like.
PS5 PRICE: EXACTLY HOW MUCH COULD PLAYSTATION 5 COST?
During the “Inter BEE 2018” event in Tokyo recently, visitors got a look at something rather tantalising.
For those interested, the Inter BEE, or International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition, is a bit like a Consumer Electronics Show but with a greater focus on professional equipment used in the video production industry (cheers gtplanet.net for the steer).
What's important though is that Sony was in attendance showcasing their numerous high-end tech.
But there was also one beastly TV system on show.
An ultra-high-end “Crystal LED Display System”, also known as CLEDIS.

Apparently, the tagline for the product is “go big or go bigger” and if you're wondering why, it's because CLEDIS is a massive 440-inch screen with a near-180 degree viewing angle capable of 8K video output at 120FPS.
And you know what Sony chose to show on this Godzilla like screen? Something that closely resembled Gran Turismo Sport.
Obviously you're not going to get the full effect on a crumby YouTube vid compared to being there in person, but none the less, have a watch of the below off-screen footage, it's still pretty breathtaking.
Why is this so interesting? Well, it all has to do with comments made by Gran Turismo creator and Polyphony Digital CEO, Kazunori Yamauchi.
Some months back Yamauchi stoked the PS5 fires by revealing that when it came to working on GT Sport the assets for the game were well over-spec, right up to 8K.
Finder.com has reported that during a studio tour of Polyphony Digital, Yamauchi mentioned that they're creating assets for GT Sport for future releases of PlayStation consoles.
Yamauchi reportedly told Finder.com:
"It takes six months to create a single car. It's over-specced for PS4 Pro. So we are building for future versions of the console rather than the one we see today. I think it would be no problem to run it at 8K even".
Now, we're not saying this is some magic PS5 box running behind some magic curtain, but it does offer a tantalising look at what Gran Turismo games could look like on next-gen consoles.
And if Polyphony has already done some legwork to get the existing assets up to 8K, maybe, just maybe, the next PlayStation is going to be an even bigger monster than first believed.
