Singer Gaz Coombes has been forced to cancel his upcoming gigs after being "Bruce Lee'd" by his 15-year-old daughter.

The former Supergrass frontman said he had broken his leg playing with his children, and shared an X-ray picture on Twitter.

"I've only gone & broken my leg! Larking around with the kids I got 'Bruce Lee'd' by my 15 year old: let's just say she connected too well," he wrote.

Shows in Utrecht, Lille, as well as several in Spain and Italy have been cancelled, while UK dates have been rescheduled to May, but the singer promised fans he would be "back soon".

He said he had surgery on the break at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, and thanked the "amazing" staff and "wonderful" NHS for his treatment.

Coombes's gigs were promoting his third solo album, World's Strongest Man – the follow up to 2015's Mercury Prize-nominated Matador – which charted at number 12 in the UK in May.
