Microsoft has given a final, proper release date to its much-delayed Xbox exclusive and its giving away the first game for free to everyone.
For a while there it was looking like it would never happen, but Crackdown 3 has not been cancelled or delayed again and is instead coming out on February 15 for Xbox One and PC. Or at least thats what Microsoft claimed on Saturday nights X018 event.
Despite the game not having been seen in public for over a year now it still only got a brief bit of exposure at the event, but it did at least demo the multiplayer mode for the first time.
Technically it has been seen before (we even played it back in 2015) but that was only a tech demo and this is the real thing.
It seems to be the same idea as originally promised though, with Microsofts cloud computing system Azure allowing you to blow up absolutely anything in the game. Which is not the way it works in single-player.
The multiplayer mode is called Wrecking Zone and has two teams of five battling it out in an attempt to destroy their opponents control tower.
Because its a first party game Crackdown 3 will be available for free on Game Pass from day one, assuming you have a subscription.
But as a special bonus an Xbox One X enhanced, backwards compatible version of the original Xbox 360 game will be available to everyone from now until November 30.
