Five years after the tragic death of her father, Paul Walkers daughter has celebrated her 20th birthday.

The model took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday to mark the leaving of her teenage years, sharing an image of a slice of chocolate cake bearing her age in pink and gold candles.

It will likely have been a bittersweet occasion without her father, who Meadow is said to have been with on the day of his death.

Paul passed away on 30 November 2013 at the age of 40 after the Carrera GT Porsche his friend Roger Rodas was driving crashed and exploded into flames.

That morning, Meadow – who had recently moved from Hawaii where she was being raised by her mother Rebecca Soteros to Pauls home in Santa Barbara – had gone for breakfast with her father and the pair planned to decorate a Christmas tree together later in the day.

Since his death, Meadow has used her platform – she has 1.5 million followers on Instagram alone – to continue her fathers legacy and raise awareness about the way in which he died.

The 20-year-old created the Paul Walker Foundation in 2015 in a bid to support charities and projects in his name, and often uses her Instagram page to reflect on her fathers life.

In one of just six photos on the account, Meadow, who reached a settlement against Porsche in a wrongful death suit claim in 2017, said she felt the need to share his kindness and selflessness with the world.

Reflecting on my father, I found myself reflecting on his passions, she wrote alongside a touching father-daughter image from when she was a child.

His passion for the ocean, his passion for rescuing animals, his passion for helping people and his passion for spontaneous goodwill. I wanted to start this foundation because I want to share that piece of him with the world.

I want to share that part of him with others.

The foundation goes by the tagline #DoGood, which Meadow will no doubt continue to champion as she goes into her twenties.

Sharing an image of a shopping bag bearing the label in September last year, the model revealed she was donating food to a local homeless shelter and encouraged her followers to do the same.
