XXXTentacion was allegedly targeted, as police reports claim two gunmen followed him into a motorcycle store before shooting him dead in the street.
Broward County Sheriffs Department confirmed the rappers death in a tweet that read: The adult male that was taken to the hospital has been pronounced dead.
Since then Dedrick Devonshay Williams, 22, has been arrested on suspicion of murder in South Florida, the other assassin is yet to be caught.
The 20-year-old was killed in broad daylight on Monday afternoon following what police thought to be a botched up armed robbery.
However, details in Williams arrest affidavit suggest it was a premeditated murder.
According to The New York Times, who claim to have obtained the affidavit, XXX entered the motorcycle shop at 3.30pm.
The document states that two minutes later, two men got out of an SUV before following him into the building.
They then allegedly proceeded to buy masks before exiting the store, awaiting the rappers return.
Once they were in the car park they blocked the exit by moving their SUV to the north gate.
The Sad singer left the store at 3.55, but when he tried to leave the premises, he was ambushed by the two men.
The publication reported that they demanded property before a fight broke out, resulting in XXX being shot dead.
A Louis Vuitton bag was stolen from his car by the two gunmen.
It has not yet been released what the contents of the bag was, however lawyers have revealed that XXX visited a bank before his death, making it likely that there was money involved.
Police went on to arrest Williams after matching his orange sandals in an Instagram pic to a witness description of one of the suspects.
If convicted, the only two sentences available for that statute are life in prison and the death penalty.
Williams went before the judge on Thursday afternoon local time where he was held without bond due to probable cause.
He will also have to return to court on Monday after he was hit with a probation violation that stemmed from 2014.
