Natasha Kaplinksy and her family are recovering after a boat they were on exploded in flames, according to reports.

The former BBC newsreader, 45, and her family were enjoying a boat ride just off the shore of the Greek island Corfu.

According to The Sun, several family members were onboard, including her eight-year-old daughter, Angelica – who is said to have suffered severe burns.

A spokesman for the former Strictly Come Dancing winner told the paper: Natasha and her family were involved in an accident in Corfu.

The former BBC newsreader, 45, and her family were enjoying a boat ride just off the shore of the Greek island Corfu.

They came home early to receive treatment and are making a good recovery at home.

Natasha, her daughter, and another relative are believed to have been rescued from the boat by fishermen, who helped to put out the flames and tow the vessel to shore.

Its said that Angelica bore the brunt of the blast, with the newspaper reporting that her condition was so serious that she was flown back to the UK after the incident, which is thought to have happened last Friday.

Investigators are said to be looking into the cause of the fire, with it suspected to be a petrol leak which then ignited.

Natasha and her husband Justin Bower, 45, are thought to have been on holiday with their son Arlo, nine, Angelica and two other relatives.

Natasha won the first series of Strictly Come Dancing back in 2004 when she was a star on the BBC news team.

In 2007 Channel 5 made her Britains highest-paid newsreader by luring her from the BBC in a £1million-a-year deal.

Metro.co.uk have contacted representatives of Natashas for comment.
