Pamela Anderson starred in a new advertisement trashing rideshare companies, and its very weird.
The former “Baywatch” plays some powerful female executive hiring men to be rideshare drivers for companies assumed to be like Uber and Lyft. Seems like an interesting concept, but it really just turned out super strange.
The ad — produced by Ride Responsibly — starts with a potential ride-hail driver walking into a futuristic underground garage … the same one used in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Pamela later appears and makes her “questionable” pitch.
Ride Responsibly claims ride-hail apps endanger passengers when it “continues to violate their drivers, failing to provide a living wage and offering no benefits.” Whats more … RR slams ride-hail apps for providing “working conditions [that] more closely resemble indentured servants.”
Im pretty sure that TMZ meant to say its a scene from “The Dark Knight,” but the point remains that theyre very clearly trying to rip off Batman. (SLIDESHOW: These Women On Instagram Hate Wearing Clothes)
If Im being honest, Getting Pamela Anderson in an ad where shes trying to be kind of seductive isnt exactly the greatest way to convince me that Uber and Lyft are bad. If anything, Im now more inclined to use them. Hell, Id even interview at one if it meant that I get a little one-on-one attention from Anderson. Most guys would probably feel the same way. Also, Im not too sure Ill be taking anything done Ride Responsibility too seriously. Seems like they really havent it out for Uber and Lyft. I wouldnt say that this advertisement came off as the most well-balanced and fair ad Ive ever seen. Uber and Lyft drivers know exactly what theyre getting into, and the consumers know what its all about too.
Anderson should maybe just stick to her iconic red swimsuit, and let consumers make their own decisions. Just a little food for thought.
