In a world where everything old is new again it was only a matter of time before we were all invited on another most excellent adventure.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are confirmed to reprise their roles of Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq. made famous in the classic 1989 film Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure. The creators of the film Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have written the script while Galaxy Quest helmer Dean Parisot will direct.
The original film saw two bodacious teenagers, Bill and Ted, travel through time searching for historical figures like Socrates, Sigmund Freud, Billy The Kid and others in their quest to pen the best song ever.
According to Variety, the new film sees the duo in middle age with the responsibilities of family getting in the way of fulfilling their destiny of writing the best song ever.
Aptly, the film is titled Bill & Ted Face The Music.
Aided by their daughters and some new historical figures, the pair will go on another adventure to find the music and set the world right.
Solomon and Matheson have been chipping away at the script for the sequel for nearly a decade and according to a statement to the Hollywood Reporter both the original stars are happy with it.
“We couldn't be more excited to get the whole band back together again," a statement from Reeves and Winter said.
"Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we've got a dream team!"
The first instalment in the franchise cost $US10 million to make and more than quadrupled its budget at the US Box Office alone.
The film's producers are yet to announce when filming will begin or when fans can expect the movie to hit cinemas.
