Epic Games will be launching its newest update for Fortnite Battle Royale this week, which will include brand new areas being added to the map.
The additions were confirmed last week with a new city featuring multi-storey buildings set to be included in the game.
It has continued to add new content every week with a continually growing number of players joining the free-to-play game.
So when can we expect to see this new update and what exactly can we expect to see?
When can we expect to see the Fortnite map update?
An exact release date for the new map additions hasn’t been announced by Epic Games yet, but we do know that it will be some time this week.
A lot of speculation predicts that we should expect to see the new update on either Tuesday 16th January or Wednesday 17th January.
Fortnite updates are regularly released on Tuesdays, so many players have anticipated today to be when we would get the chance to explore the new areas for the first time.
However, there is still no mention from Epic Games about the update, so there’s a good chance that the size of the changes could delay it until tomorrow or even Thursday.
What will be in the new Fortnite update?
As well as the usual bug fixes and small tweaks, the newest update is set to be one of the biggest yet.
Epic Games has confirmed that there will be new map additions for the first time since the game was launched last year.
It has been confirmed that it will include a number of new points of interest, with a lot of focus going onto the west side of the map.
This includes a city being introduced, as well as new named areas and more emphasis on ‘biomes’ such as the swamp and mountains.
Players can also expect a new underground mine that will encourage close combat shotgun battles.
