Gamers have got their first look at Black Ops 4s Blackout mode, as helicopters and other vehicles are added to COD for the first time.
This years Call Of Duty was always going to be a hit, not just because its Call Of Duty but because Black Ops is undoubtedly the most popular sub-series still going.
But what everyone has been waiting to see is the promised Battle Royale mode, called Blackout. It was announced months ago, during the games reveal, but wasnt at E3 and theres never been any gameplay footage of it… until now.
The trailer below is primarily for the multiplayer beta thats due to start next month (although as ever the dates are more complicated than that).
Thats multiplayer as in normal competitive mode, but right at the end the footage switches to show Blackout – which will have its own beta in September.
Theres only 13 seconds of what seems to be in-game footage but it does feature a helicopter, several ATVs, and a single frame shot of a motorboat.
Apart from the occasional single-player mission playable vehicles have never been a part of Call Of Duty before, which has previously always focused on smaller maps and on-foot combat.
Whether therell be more than one map for Blackout is unclear, but it certainly wouldnt be surprising if it only launched with the single one you see here – after all Fortnite still only has one.
Theres still no date for Blackouts beta but the normal multiplayer one will start on August 3 for PlayStation 4 owners and August 10 for everyone else.
Its a quite an extensive beta too, with six maps, six game modes (Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Control) and 10 specialists to play as.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 itself will be released on October 12 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
