Rapper and convict Meek Mill had two prominent visitors in prison this week — and their identities may surprise you.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft visited Meek Mill, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, on Tuesday. (RELATED: Michael Bennett Charged For Allegedly Attacking An Elderly Paraplegic Victim)

“Amazing young man. I know how Id feel if I was in the situation he is,” Kraft said just after leaving Meek Mills prison in Chester, PA. “Every time I see him, I just come away more impressed. Hes very intelligent. And makes it clear to me we have to do something with criminal justice reform.”

Later, the Pats owner added that the situation was “just sad.”

“This guys a great guy. (He) shouldnt be here,” Kraft said.

And on Wednesday, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney (D) went in to visit the rapper in prison himself.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Kenney spent about an hour in the prison with Meek. And while Kenney kept pretty quiet about the meeting, his spokeswoman Ajeenah Amir said in an email that Kenney “believes [Mill] would better serve the community outside of prison, and that his case makes clear and urgent the desperate need to continue working with our partners to reform the criminal justice system.”

Last month, Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf tweeted his support for releasing Meek Mill.

“I support D.A. Larry Krasners position in the case of Robert Williams (Meek Mill),” he wrote. “Our criminal justice system is in need of repair. Thats why my admin has made efforts to invest in programs that divert individuals from the system, improve public safety, and promote fairness.”

Philly 76ers players Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz have all visited Meek Mill since his imprisonment as well.

Meek Mill is currently serving 2-4 years in prison for violating probation after being charged in 2008 for a gun and drugs charge.
