PS4 fans, The Last Of Us movie may be facing the axe, admits Naughty Dog boss
It looks like The Last Of Us movie is facing the axe in a bitter blow for games fans.
Neil Druckmann, the brains behind the zombie-like adventure Playstation game, has indicated he never wants to see a movie adaptation of the amazing blockbuster to hit our screens.
The Naughty Dog Creative Director has been having second thoughts about Hollywood getting involved in his monster hit.
And that could spell the end not only for the apocalypse-survival horror at the movies but also another film adaptation currently in the works, Uncharted.
Both Playstation exclusive games, and in Uncharted’s case various sequels, have been consistently rated among the best video games ever made.
Naughty Dog are said by the industry to be the top developer when it comes to story-driven titles that not only take you on a thrill ride but also an emotional rollercoaster akin to a great movie.
But as both franchises are worked on by film executives, Druckmann is growing increasingly reluctant to see them make the silver screen.

From the developers at Naughty Dog comes the sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed games of the generation. Watch the world reveal trailer that made its debut at PlayStation Experience 2016.
Speaking at a talk during DICE Summit last week, he made it clear that he now doesn’t support direct film adaptations of Naughty Dog games.
“We used to just be excited – ‘Oh my god, movies are looking at us’ – but then as more time passes on we’re not excited about a direct adaptation because we’ve already told that story very well cinematically,” Druckmann said of both games.
He had originally worked on the script for The Last of Us film, but now indicates he doesn’t want that movie to be made.
His biggest hangup is recasting characters and retelling a story that they have already told in a cinematic way.
“For me and a lot of our fans (voice actor) Nolan North is Nathan Drake,” he said.
“Ashley Johnson is Ellie. Troy Baker is Joel.
“It would be very disorienting to see someone else in that role.”
Druckmann said it would be like making a Breaking Bad film and casting a different actor as Walter White.
Despite the chat, the Uncharted movie telling the story of young hero Nathan Drake is believed to be still on.
Druckmann has talked with Stranger Things director Shawn Levy, about the Uncharted movie.
“He’s really passionate. He gets it,” he said.
“I think he understands where we’re at.
“The conversations we’ve had with Shawn, him wanting to tell a story with potentially a young Nathan Drake that fills in some of the gaps of his life, is way more interesting.”
Tom Holland of Marvel’s Spider-Man fame has reportedly been cast to play young Drake.
