Women have been running the world for years and not getting any credit – or money – for it.
But in 2018 the shift is finally being seen – and it’s clear that some of the most powerful celebrity couples in the world are bringing home the bacon not thanks to the man in the relationship but the woman.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are one of the most high profile celebrity couples, but despite Kanye’s name recognition and critical acclaim across the music industry it is Kim’s business know-how and her industry smarts that have seen her earns £30.2 million per year.
Three time as much as Kanye’s £12.6 million per year.
Beyonce and Jay-Z are another power couple who are indicative of the shift in which gender is contributing more to the household, with Bey earning double what Jay does; £75.6 million per year to Jay’s £32.8 million per year.
Jennifer Lopez is also nearly bringing home double what her beau Alex Rodriguez does – £27.4 million to £15.1 million – while new mum Kylie Jenner is 50 times more wealthy than her partner Travis Scott.
The new parents collectively earn just over £30 million but Kylie reaps in nearly £29.5 million of that amount.
Gigi Hadid meanwhile is raking in nearly £7 million a year as a model at the top of her game, while boyfriend, former One Direction star Zayn Malik, is pulling in £3.6 million thanks to music sales and endorsement deals.
And what about the soon-to-be newlyweds , Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?
Well technically Meghan’s earnings are way higher than Harry’s with her receiving £324,000 a year for her role on Suits, and Harry’s Army salary only £32,000.
But, as Missy Empire, admit that figure isn’t taking into account the Royal Family’s huge private estate – or the £10 million left to Harry in a trust fund by the late Princess Diana.
