One of the big appeals of the game is the ability to team up as either a duo or a four-player squad in online multiplayer.
However many fans of the game have been keen to play the game with their friends in a split-screen mode or be able to play with their Xbox friends while using a PS4.
Epic Games have shown that their willing to listen to audience feedback when updating the game to try and make it the best experience possible, but does that include expanding the multiplayer possibilities?
Can you play split-screen Fortnite multiplayer?
Unfortunately a split-screen version of Fortnite isn’t possible, the only way for you to play the game with friends is by using separate consoles or PCs.
One of the reasons behind this might be the potential advantage players would get by being able to see two points of view at once in the game.
Another issue would be the complications with sound which is used a lot by players to determine if opponents are nearby, this would be much more difficult if two people are playing from the same screen.
Is Fortnite available as cross-platform?
Cross-platform gameplay is currently not available, meaning PS4 players can’t interact with Xbox players in the game.
However, Epic Games has confirmed that there is cross-progression available for PS4 and PC, which means that players can carry the same progress on both platforms and have access to their unlockable items.
To use the cross-progression feature you will need to link your Epic Games account to your PlayStation, however once you do this it will reset your PS4 progress.
